On Wednesday the 17^th of July, Art Vancouver and Art Downtown brought together eight of the city’s most exciting up and coming artists for its annual Art Masters competition, an event proudly sponsored by Kare Vancouver.

Art Masters is an enthralling painting competition where eight painters put their skills, talents and artistry to the test, being given just one hour to design and paint a work which embodies an unknown theme with unknown materials and Canvas.

The artists compete for public votes, with the most votes taking home the grand prize and enviable title of Art Master.

This year’s competition was set in the beautiful Lot 19 park in Downtown Vancouver on one of the cities rare sunny days. The artists and public gathered where they were told the year’s theme, “the joy of living” and had the canvas revealed to them.

The canvas was this subtle yet compelling Cabeza Vase, both designed and supplied by Kare Vancouver. With its minimalist design, distinctive lines and muted modern coloring, the Cabeza proved the perfect canvas for this colorful theme.

Despite the heat, the artists brought their best, imbuing the contemporary Kare Design with the joy of living, creating colorful and introspective works that truly brought the vases to life.

After an hour of furious work, it was tools down for the artists and the audience contemplated the diverse and colorful designs. Votes were cast and after much deliberation and anticipation, Vancouver-based artist Leila Razi was declared the winner and took home a 200-dollar Kare gift card.
